Weekend Reading 12.29.23
Guess who’s back? it’s meeee. After over a year of neglecting this blog, I’m making it a goal to get back to this space in 2024. Working in social, I know the importance of maintaining an independent space that’s not tied to social media, but the past couple of years really spread me thin emotionally. I found it harder and harder to get myself to maintain this space. I can’t explain it other than to say the culmination of deep grief, a busy schedule, and major burnout were major contributors. I’m still working on my goals for how I’ll use this space, but I do plan to post regular outfit round-ups with sources, resurrect Weekend Reading (I love putting this list together), and also incorporate more decor inspiration.
With 2024 just days away, I’m feeling hopeful. This past year was challenging in many ways, especially the past couple of months. I’m not naive enough to think 20204 won’t have challenges, but I’m looking forward to turning over a new leaf and moving forward with intention.
I hope you had a fantastic holiday season, friends, and I hope you have a very happy new year. Cheers and thank you for being here! XOXO
On to the links…
A podcast I’ve really been enjoying. Some of the guests have surprised me in a good way (namely David Brooks, who spoke about cultivating deep connections)
Still very much into pops of red these days. Just ordered these socks and these red tights and I can’t wait to style them. I’m also eyeing this cashmere sweater (also comes in plus)
Almost done with my last book of 2023! I’m reading The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, which is an easy read and entertaining - perfect for the end of the year.
Because we’re all probably thinking about our 2024 budget: 5 ways to save money that have nothing to do with money. I also love Life Kit’s money advice.
I just ordered these gorgeous velvet trousers and can’t wait to wear them with everything (especially my vintage tee shirts).
Machete is having a bold ol’ sale! SO much good stuff, including so many colors in the iconic acetate hoops.
Really enjoying Ann Helen Peterson’s Culture Study Podcast. Listening to the Taylor Swift/Travis Kelce episode now.
A very good - and much more affordable - dupe for the Toteme stripes sweater. Currently on sale.
The question we’re all asking: What makes a good cat?
A good read: Do you have a signature scent? (I love the “gummy funk of decades-old textbooks” - what an amazing description!). My signature scents are Milk from Dedcool and Bois de Balincourt.
This year’s version of one of my favorite coats is on sale (a solid Barbour dupe, too)
