Maine Maker: Erin Flett Textiles & Home

I recently had the opportunity to stop into Erin Flett Textiles & Home, designer Erin Flett’s bright and sunny storefront in Gorham, Maine. Overflowing with the bold designs Erin Flett has become known for since she began her brand as a side-hustle back in 2007, the shop – and Erin’s work – exudes the kind of sunny, optimistic energy so many of us are missing right now. It’s the kind of space that makes you happier just standing in it – how could you not smile a little when you’re surrounded by screenprinted hearts, suns, abstract birds, and waves? At once minimal and colorful, vibrant, and understated, Flett creates the kind of pieces that work in any space but would be especially at home in a seaside escape. Somewhere on the coast where you can hear gulls calling and waves crashing and your out of office notification is most definitely ON.

While I was familiar with Erin’s work as a Maine artist previously, her recent collaboration, Erin Flett x L.L. Bean solidified me as a fan for life. The canvas Megan Tote became a staple this summer, whether I was taking it for a beach day or packing it full for a photoshoot – it’s a great bag. Now, as fall draws near and freelance work picks up, I’ll be using another bag to transport my stuff to and from shoots – the Folder Bag. Ideal for a laptop and some cords or books for class, this bag is the understated tech carryall of my dreams. Because so many of us are headed back to work and school – or some semblance of school – I’m excited to be giving one away on Instagram to one lucky winner. Be sure to follow me there to learn more!
